After Oghenechovwe Ekpeki's near fatal accident, subsequent inadequate medical care, and lack of compensation by the company responsible, he reevaluated the effects his living situation was having on his health and career.
Along with ongoing harassment from the company whose employee injured him, the stress and prevented the timely healing of the spinal fracture the employee caused.

Chovwe is an award winning writer, editor, and publisher of science fiction and fantasy. He has won and been nominated for the Hugo, Nebula, Otherwise, Nommo, Sturgeon, Locus, British Science Fiction, British Fantasy, World Fantasy and NAACP Image awards, amongst others.

But availability of services such as reliable electricity, internet, cloud infrastructure, and financial systems that allow connection with writers and literary organizations around the globe, are intermittent at best or completely unavailable in Nigeria.

So he has decided to apply for the Arts and Culture Global Talent Visa, of the Arts Council England. The UK's technological development and availability of services such as reliable electricity, high speed internet, cloud infrastructure, and financial systems that allow connection with writers and organizations around the globe, are intermittent at best or completely unavailable in Nigeria. The UK also offers a far greater degree of civil peace and safety than is current in Nigeria, as well as avenues to carry out projects with publishers, literary agents, conventions, writers, and arts organizations in ways not currently possible.

Chovwe is looking for supporters for his application to the Global Talent Visa. So he can move to the UK, get to a less stressful and more supportive situation for his career and for healing, and get away from harassment. There are fees for the endorsement, visa application, health surcharges, and travel to the UK.

Thanks to everyone for more support. It makes all the difference.

This was Chovwe when he finally made it to the hospital.
His publisher Shahid Mahmud created a GoFundMe that helped a little with Chovwe's medical expenses:
