Help Choup Choum's Family in Crisis

Dear Family and my fellow community members,

Hi my name is Rina Chum and I’m the eldest daughter of my father Choup Choum.

With much love, as of August 29, 2024 at 11am my father, Choup Choum passed away surrounded by his children. Many of you may not know that my father had a stroke prior to being diagnosed with stage 4 Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy. A disease that he was battling with for 10 years until medically diagnosed in 2020. Doctors gave him 5 to 6 years of life to live with the disease but unfortunates he was able to battle it for 4 years. He was a fighter to the very end so much that none of us thought it was the end just yet. May he rest in peace now that the battle is over.

My father was a survivor of the Khmer genocide, a survivor who doesn't let the past keep him from moving forward with life. He worked hard, sacrificed his time on supporting his family despite the past he wanted a life for his family and loved them dearly. His laughter could brighten your day, he found love and joy in his children, grandchildren and his love will resonates within our very beings. These few years has taught us to love each other more deeply.

My family and I are seeking financial support and donations amongst the community to help reach our goal to raise $11,000. We’re hoping to begin a modest proper traditional Buddhist Cambodian ceremony with every donations will help towards funeral procession, cremation, food & refreshments for guests, family and friends who are able to take part in the ceremony and funeral locally.

With a heavy heart, I thank you in advanced for your words of support and prayers about my sweet, kindhearted father, Choup Choum.
