Help Chloe & Strider Start Medical School at VCOM-Louisiana
Donation protected
Hi friends, family, and kind strangers,
My name is Chloe McFarlane, and this summer I’m taking a leap of faith — moving from northern Vermont to Monroe, Louisiana to begin my medical education at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. I’ll be making this move alone, with my best companion and four-legged sidekick, Strider, by my side.
Starting medical school is a dream I’ve worked tirelessly toward for years. It’s a path fueled by a deep desire to practice rural medicine and serve communities often overlooked in our healthcare system. I believe that compassionate, community-rooted care is a human right — and I’m committed to becoming the kind of physician who shows up with both skill and heart.
As exciting as this journey is, it's also financially daunting. The cost of relocating over 1,500 miles, securing housing, covering moving expenses, and preparing for a rigorous academic schedule adds up quickly — and that’s before classes even begin. I’ll be relying on student loans for tuition and living expenses, but there are many up-front costs I need help covering to make this transition safely and smoothly.
Your support will go directly toward:
Moving expenses (U-Haul, fuel, lodging)
First month's rent and deposit for housing near campus
Basic furnishings and household essentials
Veterinary care and travel costs for Strider
School supplies and scrubs for the first semester
If you're able to contribute, no matter the amount, it means the world. If you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this page is just as appreciated.
Thank you for believing in this journey — in me, and in the kind of medicine I want to practice. With your help, Strider and I will arrive in Louisiana ready to begin this next chapter with courage, gratitude, and a whole lot of determination.
With lots of love,
Chloe & Strider
