Hi everyone! I’m Chloe Soto, and I have some truly exciting news to share: I’ve been accepted into a master’s program at the University of Tübingen in Germany!
This opportunity is a dream come true. Tübingen is one of Europe’s most respected universities, and being accepted feels like the beginning of a life I’ve worked so hard to build. Even more amazing: college in Germany is mostly tuition-free — even for international students. But there’s still a mandatory $1,500 student fee I need to pay for my first year.
That might not sound like a lot — but after relocating to Germany and covering the many expenses that come with starting over in a new country (visas, housing, flights, and more), my savings are nearly gone. And since I’m not yet eligible for a work permit, I’m in a tight spot.
If you know me, you know I’m not someone who’s quick to ask for help. I’ve always tried to do everything on my own. But I’m learning that it’s okay to reach out — and that there are people out there who want to help someone pursuing something meaningful. I’m hoping those people are out there now.
As a trans woman of color entering a master’s program, I carry this opportunity with deep gratitude and awareness. I know that many of my trans sisters never seek — or are never welcomed into — spaces like higher education. That makes this moment feel even more significant. It’s not just about me. It’s about showing what’s possible when someone like me gets the chance to thrive.
So I’m asking: If you believe in education, in second chances, in lifting each other up — will you help me fund my first year? Once I’m through this first step, I’ll be able to support myself and pay it forward in every way I can.
If you can donate — thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you can’t, sharing this story means just as much.
With gratitude, hope, and all the determination in the world,
Chloe Soto ✨
