Help Chloe Rebuild Her Life After Losing Her Dominant Hand to Cancer
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Supporters,
We all know someone, have heard of a friend or a friend's friend, or, have personally experienced what cancer can do to a person and how it can change their life. That someone not only needs to get through the barrage of doctors, experience many tests, multiple medications and follow up appointments, but will also live with that thought that this might not be over, cancer might just show up elsewhere in the future.
Then there's still the harsh reality of losing body parts, facing more medication, and undergoing even more tests.
It's an ugly rollercoaster ride for anyone, but Chloe isn't just anyone. She’s our daughter, your friend your sister, your niece, your granddaughter. She is someone, she is brave, and she is amazing, but she needs ongoing support.
In September 2024, my beautiful girl’s world was turned upside down as life threw her a curveball she couldn’t catch. My amazing daughter, Chloe, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, a Synovial Sarcoma, that ultimately led to the loss of her dominant hand. The journey that brought her here has been a very rough road indeed, and it all started with misdiagnosis from multiple doctors. For years, a lump in her hand was dismissed as something benign, but by the time the correct diagnosis was made, it was too late. She was told she had an aggressive Synovial sarcoma, and it had spread through her hand. Her safest option was amputation. There are still no guarantees that the cancer has not spread, but for now, she goes on.
The impact on her life has been profound, but what continues to amaze me is her strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. She has shown such courage throughout this difficult journey, and I am incredibly proud of her. Though she has lost so much, she has not lost her drive or her love for life.
What She Needs Now:
While she is recovering and adapting to this forced new way of life, her journey is far from over. The road ahead includes ongoing medical appointments, physical therapy, and the financial strain that comes with those appointments and recovery. Additionally, we are raising funds to help her acquire a high-tech prosthesis to help her regain some independence and "normality." This prosthesis will be instrumental in giving her the ability to do everyday tasks that were once second nature to her. It’s amazing how much we do with two hands and not think twice about it. I am still caught off guard at how difficult and frustrating it is to only have one hand when I try to carry out everyday tasks with my non-dominant hand!
Her partner has been a constant source of love and support, but together they face financial hardship due to lost income during this time of healing. Every day is a challenge, but they are both determined to face it with love, hope, and the strength that has brought them this far.
How You Can Help:
We are reaching out to you, our community, for support. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward:
• Ongoing medical appointments and physical therapy
• A high-tech prosthesis that will help Chloe regain more independence
• Specialized assistive devices to help her navigate daily tasks more easily
• Adaptions to her home and car that will give her back more independence
• The financial gap caused by lost income during this time of recovery
Your generosity will not only help lighten the financial burden but also provide Chloe with the hope and encouragement she needs to continue this challenging journey.
Chloe has been through so much, yet her determination and positivity remain unwavering. She has been an inspiration and a tower of strength. Let’s come together to support her in this next chapter. Every donation, big or small, will help Chloe reclaim her independence and rebuild her life. All will go toward lightening the financial load and easing the worry behind how her new medical future will be supported.
One of the things that brings Chloe peace is the idea of turning the ashes of her cremated hand into a beautiful gemstone. She plans to create two rings—one for her and one for her partner—as a poignant reminder of this difficult chapter in their lives. The rings will symbolize her strength, their shared love, and the journey they have been through together. I find this to be such an amazing action which will acknowledge this huge loss but also immortalise this part of her own body that she lost, into something else beautiful.
Thank You!
Thank you to all of you who have supported Chloe, both emotionally and financially, we cannot thank you enough. Your kindness, love, and generosity mean the world to us.
Please consider donating, sharing this page, or sending a message of encouragement. Together, we can help Chloe, and her partner build a brighter future as they navigate this challenging future together.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Liz and Mick (Chloe’s mum and stepdad). All of Chloe’s family want the best for her, and while she has a loving and supportive family around her, we can’t provide all that she requires financially. She is a beautiful and generous young lady and deserves the world.
