Help Me, Help You
Hi, my name is Chloe Taylor I am 16 years old and am currently a grade 11 student. For the last two years I have set my mind on attending one of Canada's most prestigious programs known as SHAD. I began the competitive application process in November with this particular year presenting a record number of applicants and ever since awaiting the results. Only a few days ago I was informed of the fact that I had been accepted!
SHAD offers students from all around Canada the opportunity to advance their knowledge of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, maths) related topics by living on campus at a given university for a month. During this month, those attending will partake in projects, lectures, labs, workshops and in doing so develop a network of like minded individuals. Simultaneously, participants will be faced with a hands on design challenge for which they must aim to propose a solution to a real world issue.
I have worked tirelessly in and out of school, maintaining exemplary academic standings and participating in a variety of extracurriculars ranging from soccer to community band. I enjoy a challenge and always go above and beyond, last year placing in the top 3% nation wide on a Science challenge exam. I spend my time after school tutoring my peers, studying and/or researching, playing music and sports and working part time as a barista at a local coffee shop. I have a passion for helping others, learning, and doing good. I hope that one day I will be able to use my talents to inspire positive change and better the lives of others. Attending this program has been a dream of mine for quite some time now. Going to SHAD would open many doors in my future and greatly facilitate my ambition to make a difference in this world.
Help me go to SHAD so that I can make this world a better place for you!
