Help Chloe face her upcoming surgery and recovery
Donation protected
I didn't think a surgical drainage tube is what I wanted for my 40th birthday, but it turns out it will be the perfect gift. This July, I am finally getting the first of four surgeries, and by far this is the most complicated and important one for my day-to-day life.
The surgeon is out-of-state and I'll need to be nearby their hospital for follow-ups and supervision. It also means me and my partner will not be able to work for nearly a month. We had prepared for this before, but insurance delays forced the date to be changed twice, so our buffer has been depleted. It's not an opportunity I can miss, and yet at the same time I have no idea how I am going to fund it.
I've had students and patients struggle to ask for help (because asking is hard!) But what I tell them is what I am telling myself right now; Let the people who love you, love you. Friends, I am scared, and I need your love and your help. Having your financial support means I have more time to prepare, less stress over hospital bills, and a longer period to recover. I'll come back a better teacher, healthcare worker, friend, and family to you all.
