Help Chloe Become A Healer
My name is Chloe and I am a queer Chinese-American artist, chef, and caregiver based in New York. This past year has been a challenge for many and it has only deepened my desire to create a compassionate and equitable world. I am asking for some assistance to attend the Traditional Chinese Medicine School in Toronto so that I can build an equitable health care system in my community that is centered on deepening relationships with the earth and natural medicine.
I decided to pursue Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) because I am passionate about providing alternatives to the Western health care system. Throughout my life, I have always been fascinated by imagining worlds beyond what was in front of me. I explored art in many forms and pursued an art degree. At the same time, I was experiencing the failures of the public health care system in America and wanted to learn about alternative health practices. In my free time, I explored herbalism texts, spoke with TCM practitioners and with elders about their paths in healing.
TCM is rooted in the understanding of the relationship between soul, body, and the natural world. As our world changes due to urbanization, industrialization, and climate change, it is crucial to reimagine our relationship with the earth. I am committed to educating myself on TCM practices so that I can help my community heal in harmony with nature.
Unfortunately, TCM school is very expensive and my plans to study abroad affordably have changed due to political drama as my family is from Hong Kong. I’ve saved as much as I can but am now needing to spend twice as much as I had hoped to. I will also be recovering from top surgery and moving at the same time. I would like to focus all my energy on my education and myself and will only be able to work a part-time job as an international student.
Making this ask was not easy at all, but the thought of being put further in debt is too scary. If you would like to contribute to a dream of mine, I will be incredibly grateful.
