Chloe Dean is the 19-year-old daughter of our good friends, Brook and Stella Dean, and a tremendously positive and beloved member of the St. Augustine, Florida community as well as a talented artist and creative in the local arts community.
In February 2020, she was diagnosed with an incredibly rare cancer - Fibrolamellar Carcinoma (FLC for short). It affects teens and young adults with an otherwise healthy liver and is so rare that there is little data on just how many people have it. It makes up only 1% to 5% of all liver cancers, so rare that it's only seen in 1 of every 5 million people.
Because of this rarity, the family will have to travel out-of-state for her upcoming treatments, adding travel and lodging expenses on top of the medical bills in addition to lost time off work for both her and her family to be by her side through this fight. For now, we're setting the goal at $25,000 as an estimate and will adjust it as needed when the expenses start becoming more clear.
It will be a long road ahead, but Chloe is facing it with bravery and an inspirational, positive attitude.
