Fired After Coming Out As Trans At Work - Chloe & Family

I'm Chloe Clementine Strahan, and I am a transgender woman with a marvelous wife and two amazing gender queer kids.

In May of 2025, I began my transition from male to female as a trans person. I began HRT, and it has all been exactly the right decision. I could write paragraphs about the miraculous impact this therapy has had. I am who I am supposed to be now. And I'm living my truth. Unfortunately, my truth also includes being fired from a non-profit six weeks after coming out as trans at work. I had done amazing work, had a great reputation, and was even assigned to a big multi-year project in June, before I came out in August. I had built a great process with great people and was told by my manager that I had become the "go-to" for my field.

On August 17 (18?), I came out as Chloe at work. The non-profit historically supported LGBTQ employees, and I felt safe in my work environment to come out. I received support from my coworkers, while management did not respond. Six weeks later, I received my first bad review in five years, was told that actually I was a terrible worker and they fired me. There were no issues ever communicated to me until this bad review out of nowhere. Anyway, six weeks after I came out as Chloe, I was fired.

And now I'm having real trouble finding work as a trans woman. We're quickly careening towards a financial cliff we can't overcome. My wife works, and I'm doing everything I can to find work, but as a 50-year-old senior PM trans woman, all I'm getting are rejection letters and interview cancellations.

So my friends, we're at a point where we need real help. We need help in bridging the time coming quickly where my unemployment ends and I still haven't found work. Literally every dollar given is going straight to keep us afloat until I can find work. I hate to ask anyone for help, especially in the awful world we're living in. But here I am, asking for help, because we're stuck. I'm starting to realize that I might not ever get a similar job to the one that was taken from me, and have started applying for remote data entry jobs as well as IT PM positions. We're doing what we can. We just need some help.

Thank you to anyone who reads this or sends this message along, and thank you down to my soul to anyone who helps. Community, in the end, is all we have. Love and safety to you all.
