Help Chloe and Jonathan Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
Hello Friends and Neighbors,
Thank you for considering this request for help.
Due to the negligence of a neighbor doing an illegal burn (due to Stage 1 fire ban) last Sunday, a fire erupted in Aspen Springs Unit One. (The Oak Fire) Evacuations were issued, many people and animals displaced. Some absolutely amazing response from the Fire Department, local agencies, dozens of volunteers, helicopters, and air tankers saved so much property and luckily, no one was injured. But there was an incredible loss of property, most specifically the home of my daughter Chloe and her dad Jonathan Alford. The winds took this blaze directly towards their house. Thankfully their residence was saved with slurry and water, such valiant efforts by all involved. But the loss is more than any other property endured, as the fire just seemed to head right for them.
As this property is "unconventional" and off grid, it is not covered by insurance. But it is still their home.
These funds would be utilized most specifically to clean up the property, machinery and dumpsters required to haul away twisted and melted metal of the 5 buildings destroyed. All of the chainsaws are destroyed. Their wood splitter for this winters wood is gone. All of the tools Jonathan uses to make a living, gone. A massive amount of building materials they were using to expand the cabin is destroyed. 2 trucks, a car, a Honda Goldwing motorcycle, a snowblower, 4 wheeler and all their camping equipment... the list is enormous. All because someone decided to burn on a very windy day.
I am including some pictures and also a note from one of Jonathan's friends. And you may know who Chloe is, if you ever went to a choir concert or play at the high school! I realize there are a lot of fires in Colorado right now and many people are affected. But was hopeful our community could come together for someone in this extremely unfortunate situation. Chloe would also like to thank you for the advice on getting her cat Kitty back.. she arrived last night.
