Dear All
This is a sincere appeal to all regarding Chandrashekaran a.k.a Chitranga Chaitanya
Chandrasekharan is battling a recurring form of deadly, aggressive brain cancer called GlioBlastoma Multiforme Grade 4 or GBM4. He currently has a medical bill in excess of $90000 (see under updates details posted) from the surgery he just underwent to remove the tumor. He doesn’t have insurance coverage in the US as he doesn’t have residency status. In addition to that now he has to deal with more medical bills for chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
After graduating in engineering he decided to pursue a spiritual path and joined ISKCON around 1988 and worked as a volunteer ‘88 till 2014. During this period, he become one of the best fund raisers ever for ISKCON projects raising unbelievable amounts of money for various projects of ISKCON.
He co-founded a NGO named Akshayapatra Foundation in Bangalore in the year 2000.
He worked tirelessly to establish and expand a program to reach hot wholesome meals to schools kids from economically challenged social backgrounds.
What started off as a pilot project to reach mid-day lunch to 1500 Govt. School kids in Bangalore in the year 2000 now reaches to 1.5 Million children every school day across 14 states in India. In the past 19 years the Akshayapatra Foundation has distributed over 3.5 billion cumulative number of meals over the last 19 years.
He took a sabbatical from the organization in 2014 to raise his kid of 18 months and has been living with his 7 year old daughter ever since.
He came to America after 6 years (on June 18) to join ISKCON NEW VRINDABAN. Just 10 days after he reached in America, he experienced a brain seizure on 29th June 2019. He was taken to the hospital, where, unfortunately, his condition was diagnosed as a Brain Tumor; an aggressive type of cancer known as Glio Blastoma Stage 4. He was operated on July 3, 2019. He is scheduled for radiation and Chemo from August 5, 2019.
He has come here to America on a R1 Visa to serve in the capacity as a religious minister in Moundsville, WV. The temple does not provide any insurance and he is on his own unfortunately and is being cared by well wishers.
Without any income and any kind of insurance, he is now struggling to pay his hospital bills. See updates for more info on his disease. So far, we have not succeeded with any charity program for the expenses he has already incurred during the surgery and going forward he is not sure how to meet the expenses for Chemotherapy and Radiation. Without such intervention doctors warn his life could be cut short.
Requesting all friends, families and the rest of the public to donate generously to support Chandrasekaran as he battles the dreaded disease. Your help will strengthen his hope to succeed in this personal medical battle and go a long way to help him handle the most trying times of his life.
