As many of you may have heard Durham’s very own Chirba Chirba Dumpling food truck was stolen early morning of June 2nd. The truck was recovered not soon after but received damages and losses that are quickly reaching the 10,000 mark. (stolen propane tank and generator. Destruction of interior cords/wires, loss of ALL service supplies, and missed wages and services) The owner, Nate Adams, is a North Carolina native, UNC Alumni, and father to two beautiful little girls (one just barely 2 months old!) right here in Bull City. Unfortunately, the damages and losses aren’t just affecting their family alone, but also the employees and their families that depend on the truck going out to bring the famous dumplings to everyone. With much luck, and already a tremendous outpouring of support and love from friends, family, and Chirba fans, the truck was able to make a quick recovery. Bouncing back is the life of a food trucker, even the smallest mishap (such as a flat tire, or dead battery) can have big consequences for business, and rolling with the punches is usually just part of the job, but this time it wasn’t just a flat tire, and the consequences are reaching much further than a broken fridge and a canceled service. With so many families depending on our favorite yellow truck, we would like to reach out to our community and ask for support so we can not only keep the babies at home fed, but the awesome people of NC who look forward to Chirba Chirba Dumpling showing up wherever they may roll. #BullCityStrong
EDIT** As many of you have asked, yes, insurance is covering a portion of the losses which is why we have not set our goal to the 10k+ in losses we have experienced. We are only asking for help with things that will not be covered by insurance, such as, inventory, loss of revenue, and employee wages. We appreciate any support that can be offered.
