Chiqui is our sweet 8-week-old chihuahua puppy. Though she’s tiny, she has already filled our home with so much love and happiness. We adopted her on Friday, March 27th, and she quickly became a cherished member of our family. My son Ayden absolutely adores her, and my wife Andrea and I can’t imagine our lives without her.
Just a few days after bringing Chiqui home, she became very ill. On Tuesday, March 31st, we had to rush her to LeadER animal hospital in Cooper City, Florida. She tested positive for Hookworm and was found to be severely anemic. Chiqui has already undergone two blood transfusions and glucose treatments, and we have maxed out our credit cards to give her the care she needs. Despite these efforts, she is still struggling with diarrhea and vomiting because of the damage the parasite has done to her intestines, which is making it hard for her iron levels to stabilize.
The hospital is working hard to stabilize her blood levels. After her first transfusion, her levels rose to the low 20s, but they dropped back down to 16 after her first night in the hospital, requiring a second transfusion. The money raised through this GoFundMe will help us keep Chiqui in the hospital longer so her blood levels can stabilize and her digestive issues can be managed. Our greatest hope is to bring her home healthy and happy, so she can continue spreading joy in our lives like she did in the short time she was with us. Any donation or even just a share would mean the world to us. Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
