My name is Oyeyemi, and I am organising this fundraiser for my friend Chioma, who lives in Nigeria.

Chioma has lived with Blount’s disease and malalignment syndrome since childhood and now urgently needs a final corrective surgery on her knees. Because GoFundMe does not support direct withdrawals to Nigeria, I will receive the funds into my UK bank account and transfer 100% of the donations (minus platform/transfer fees) to Chioma for her treatment and recovery.

I will share regular updates here, including proof of transfers and hospital payments, so donors can see how their support is being used.

Below is Chioma’s story in her own words.

Chioma’s story

My name is Chioma, and I have lived with Blount’s disease and malalignment syndrome since childhood.

Growing up, my legs developed abnormally. Walking was painful and difficult, and simple things like standing for long periods or moving around confidently were a daily struggle.

At age 7, I had my first surgery. It helped a little, but the correction was not complete. At 15, I went through a second surgery. Again, it improved things partially, but the underlying problem was never fully resolved.

For many years, I have managed the pain, discomfort, and limitations as best as I could, hoping I would not have to return to the operating room. Recently, my doctors confirmed that I now need a final corrective surgery to properly realign my legs, stabilise my knees, and stop the progression of the condition.

This surgery is not just about walking properly. It is about living without daily pain, restoring my mobility, and regaining the confidence I have slowly lost over the years. I want to be able to stand, walk, and move without fear, embarrassment, or constant discomfort.

I am raising funds to cover the cost of this final, life-changing surgery, as well as the hospital stay, tests, medications, and rehabilitation that will follow.

Your support, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to a healthy future. If you are unable to give, please help by sharing this with others who may be able to support.

Thank you for reading my story and for standing with me in this journey to healing.

Accountability

All funds raised will be used for:

  • Hospital and surgical fees.
  • Pre-surgery tests and imaging.
  • Post-surgery care, physiotherapy, and medications.
  • Essential recovery support (transport, follow-up visits, etc.)

Because Chioma is based in Nigeria, funds will first be paid into my UK account (as required by GoFundMe), then transferred to her in Nigeria. I will post updates and screenshots of each transfer here, along with reports on her progress and recovery.
