Help children to fall in love with reading!

Please help us to raise funds towards a new and inspirational reading space for the children of Preston Park and our local community.

At Preston Park we want every child to become an efficient reader and to fall in love with reading so that they can take full advantage of all opportunities open to them in the future. This is highly important as the enjoyment of reading is reported as more important for children’s educational success than their family’s socio-economic status. (OECD, 2002).

Our library will be built in the heart of our school grounds and offer a light and exciting space for children to read and work. It will be a place that children want to return to, and one that takes children to a higher level book experience. It will make reading come alive for the children through innovative spaces to be.

It will incorporate a Romeo and Juliet balcony and a reading tree house taking on a natural theme. A bit like Robinson Crusoe, we even want to create a reading beach! We will also use bi-fold doors across the entire front so that in the summer the space can be opened up and the children can read outside in a garden area that we wish to develop.
