In the remote village of Ode-Ugbo is LA Ode-Ugbo Primary School, a Nigerian public school filled with bright children, all eager to learn. Unfortunately, their potential is limited by a lack of resources. They sit in empty classrooms, forced to share pencils and desks. They lack trained teachers and educational aids such as textbooks and notebooks. Many of these students even lack proper footwear. The school also does not have proper fencing, making it an unsafe learning environment for these young students. Many of these children are forced to stay home because their parents cannot afford basic school supplies.

This cause means a lot to me. As a 15-year-old student who had the privilege of being born in Canada, I have always had access to a safe learning environment, qualified teachers, and the basic supplies I needed to learn. Many of the resources that we take for granted are luxuries for schools like LA Ode-Ugbo. Even the smallest improvement, like extra pencils or a chalkboard, can make a life-changing difference for these children. Not only do I believe in the importance of education, but this cause is deeply personal. My grandfather graduated from LA Ode-Ugbo in 1952 and went on to become a distinguished teacher. It would be a tragedy if this school were no longer able to provide its students with the same quality of education my grandfather experienced decades ago.

To begin, we have set an initial goal of raising $5000 to provide LA Ode-Ugbo with the resources it needs to support its students. With $5000, we would be able to provide the school with uniforms, books, footwear, school bags, and pencils. The more money we raise, the more of their needs we will be able to meet, such as proper fencing. As we raise more money, the more schools in this community we will be able to help. All proceeds will go directly to the school and its students! No donation is too small; every dollar helps give a child a safer, better education.
