Booksicals Helps Students Become Better Readers By Using Picture Books as Theater in the Classroom. This a Community Engagement Project for K-3 to raise money to bring the Booksicals Literacy Through The Arts Programs for FREE to Underserved Schools.
Your support and donations will help Booksicals provide teachers at underserved elementary schools get Free Classroom Enrichment Theater Kits for K-3 students. Our Literacy Through the Arts program helps students of all learning styles improve their reading skills, gain confidence in their reading abilities and explore social-emotional themes.
Many students in Title 1 schools or underserved communities don't own books, or have very few books at home. This means these students don't have access to books and don't read enough to get good at it. At Booksicals we know that engaging kids with books and reading, requires more than just teaching them how to read. We must make them LOVE reading, engage them with reading. How do we do this? Our Reading Through the Arts program uses Picture Books as Theater and introduces plays and performance as part of the reading experience. Our Theater Enrichment Kits is a literacy based arts program, and include the companion picture books in every kit. Classroom Theater Enrichment Kits engage kids to read through live performance. Not only will this encourage kids to want to read bette in school, it will also help them want to read more at home.
Your support will help Booksicals provide Classroom Enrichment Theater Kits and Books to teachers and classrooms at underserved schools to help them fully immerse and engage their students with reading creatively and turn on their student's passion for reading.
Question: How will this project help kids and schools?
Answer: Engaging in performing arts helps kids build self-esteem, build sensory pathways, learn better and discover their own unique talents and creative strengths. Having books at home encourages reading and makes children more successful at school.
Question: What are we doing with the funds we raise?
Answer: $7000 will go to providing schools in need with Classroom Enrichment Theater Kits and companion books for every child to take home with them.
Question: What is the Program?
Answer: The Theater Kits include read, think, sing, dance, write and social emotional learning units. The kits include a picture book to read out loud and then scripts to perform the books in class. Each kit comes with EASY TO IMPLEMENT teacher lesson plans that use with theaterl and music, art and social emotional activities and include scripts, music tracks and lesson plans all a based on a particular picture book.

Question: Who Are We?
Answer: For 14 years, Booksicals has created children’s books, ebooks, musicals, and educational activities to inspire a love of reading and encourage children’s creativity through the arts. Booksicals has forged partnerships with businesses, banks, and brands including, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, The Gap Kids, Westin Hotel, Chase Bank, and Chris Hunt to bring arts and reading to the community in new and exciting ways.
100% of your donation will go towards getting books and Theater Kits into the hands of elementary school children.
