Help Children in Ghana go to School

Donation protected
Hello everyone!

My name is Ally. I, along with a group of international volunteers, have been teaching at an impoverished school in Ghana for the past 3 months. I teach a class of students ages 12-16 years old. I have grown to love these kids and see so much potential in them. After this year is complete, they do not have the funds to move on to secondary school. Although they have limited resources, these kids have ambitions and dreams. I created this GoFundMe page with the hopes of giving them a shot to achieve their dreams and improve their lives through continued education.

$370/year will cover the cost of schooling, uniforms, school lunch, textbooks, and transportation for one student for a full school year. My goal amount will ensure these kids are able to complete the next level of their secondary education. With the connections I have made, I can confirm that the money raised will go directly to the kids. Any additional money would be used to sponsor additional children.

A little about the school and experience in Ghana:

The school I have been teaching at was founded by just one teacher in a half built building shell. We have transformed it by adding roofing, additional classrooms, securing local teachers, and by painting the school with murals and colors. We continue to work on hiring teachers, school improvements, and sponsoring students. There are 65 rambunctious students ages 1-16 who love to laugh and love to dance. These kids walk anywhere form 10 to 45 minutes each way and their families sacrifice much for them to be there. Many eat their only meal of the day at school. Most live in half built one room homes and some have had to deal with the death of a parent. Their hearts are big and they are generous and loving. They have taught me much more than I have been able to teach them.

A little about the kids you’ll be helping:

Patient is 16 years old. She has one of the most maternal instincts and knows how to both physically and emotionally care for other children. Her dream is to become a nurse.

Ransford is 12 years old. He loves to draw and play football. He brightens the room with his smile. His dream is to become a scientist and work in Antarctica.

Peace is 15 years old. She has the biggest heart of any child you will ever meet. She loves to see people smile and will give gifts of cards and jewelry to the kids and teachers. She comforts those who are sad and always thinks of others. Her dream is to serve her country in the Ghanian military (this is only possible if she continues her education).

Matilda is 16 years old. I call her bumblebee because she is so sweet but this girl is full of sass and will sting you if you cross her. Her dream is also to serve in the Ghanian military.

These kids own my heart. Thank you so much for any contribution!
