Hi, my name is Iago, I’m 18 years old, and this past summer I had the opportunity to volunteer in Ghana with Projects Abroad at Torre Eikland School.
It’s hard to fully describe what that experience meant to me. I didn’t just meet students — I met children full of energy, curiosity, and joy, who made me feel welcome from the very first day.
They love learning, they love playing, and above all, they love football. But something that stayed with me long after I left was this: many of them play every day without proper shoes. Some play barefoot, others in flip-flops. It’s normal for them to get cuts or small injuries, but they keep going anyway — smiling, laughing, and chasing the ball like nothing can stop them.
That kind of resilience is inspiring, but it also made me realize how much of a difference something as simple as a pair of sports shoes could make. The same happens in the classroom. Many students don’t have enough notebooks or basic materials. They share what they can, reuse what’s available, and still show up every day ready to learn.
These are things we often don’t think about— but there, they truly matter.
That’s why I decided to start this fundraiser. My goal is simple: to provide proper sports shoes, footballs, and essential school supplies for the children at Torre Eikland School, so they can play safely and learn with the resources they deserve.
All the money raised will be used to buy these items, ensuring that your support has the greatest possible impact.
I will personally stay in contact with the school and share updates, so you can see exactly the difference you are making.
