Chiko is my 4-year-old Shiba Inu who came into my life under heartbreaking circumstances. His previous owner, unable to afford the medical care he desperately needed, surrendered him to me. When Chiko arrived, he was covered in what appeared to be tar and suffering from 4th degree burns on his legs. I couldn't bear the thought of him going without treatment, so I stepped in to give him a chance at recovery and a better life.

As a veterinary technician, I was able to get Chiko started on the care he needed at the emergency hospital where I work. While I have a credit at the hospital, Chiko's recovery has been more complicated and is taking longer than expected. He now needs skin grafting and ongoing medical attention, which has led to additional expenses beyond what I can cover on my own.

Chiko has shown incredible resilience and a gentle spirit throughout his ordeal. Despite his injuries, he has given nothing but love to everyone he meets.
