Help Chief Walk Again: Surgery Needed for Torn ACLs ❤️‍

Hi, my name is Cassidy, and I’m fundraising for my beloved dog Chief, a 7-year-old mixed breed rescue who has been my constant companion since I adopted him in 2018 when I was just 19.

Chief has torn BOTH of his ACLs and urgently needs two separate TPLO surgeries to walk again without pain. The total cost is over $16,000, and while I’m committed to his recovery, I need financial help to make this possible.

Chief is currently in pain and struggling to walk. These surgeries are the only real path to getting him back on his feet and restoring his quality of life.

Why Chief Means So Much ❤️

Chief isn’t just a pet — he’s my best friend, my emotional support, and the reason I made it through some of the hardest years of my life. From long nights studying in college to the isolation of COVID, moving, and now navigating my early 20s, Chief has been right by my side, offering unconditional love, loyalty, and joy.

This is not Chief's first medical crisis. He is one tough and resilient boy! In 2022, Chief nearly died from a rare and devastating tick-borne illness called Ehrlichiosis. It caused a spinal cord infection and brain lesions, leaving him paralyzed in his back legs, incontinent, and with severe neurological problems. The vets weren’t sure if he’d survive, let alone walk again.

I emptied my savings to pay for his emergency care and took time off work to help him recover.

Against all odds, Chief fought his way back. With weeks of at-home physical therapy, a homemade diet, and round-the-clock care, he began walking again. Months later, he was testing negative and returning to his happy, goofy self.

Now, 3 years later, Chief is facing a new battle: he has torn both of his ACLs, leaving him in constant pain and unable to walk properly again.

Chief and I have faced an uphill healing journey before — and we're committed to doing it again. But this time, I need a little financial help to make it happen. That’s why I’m turning to the kindness of friends, family, and fellow dog lovers.
