Chief is Brooke and Pat’s only child—a 6-year-old golden retriever with a heart of gold and a love for fetch, giant sticks, and balancing just about anything on his head. He’s the kind of dog who brings joy wherever he goes, whether he’s playing with other dogs, swimming in the intracoastal waterway, or going on long walks with Brooke and Pat. Chief has been by Brooke’s side through some of the biggest moments in her life, including moving away from her hometown and the heartbreaking loss of her dad.
Recently, Chief suddenly became very ill. He stopped eating and just wasn’t himself, so Brooke rushed him to the vet. The news was devastating: Chief’s liver counts were dangerously high, and he was at risk of liver failure. He was transferred to the emergency vet, where he’s been receiving around-the-clock care since Friday (1/16/25). After many tests and treatments, the vets diagnosed him with an acute liver injury. The cause is still unknown, but Chief is fighting hard. The vet team is now performing an albumin infusion to help his body heal and give his liver a fighting chance. The cost of his care is growing each day as he continues to receive the treatment he needs.
Brooke is the sweetest person you’ll ever meet—she’s always there for her friends, working hard behind the bar at K38 and spreading kindness wherever she goes. Now, she and Chief need our help. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward Chief’s vet bill and help give him the best chance at recovery. Please consider sharing this fundraiser, even if you’re unable to donate. We will continue to post updates as Chief fights his way back to health. Thank you so much for supporting Brooke, Pat, and their beloved Chief during this difficult time.
