Meet Chickens,
Chickens is a six-month-old Shar-Pei, with a big smile, a loving heart, and quite a story to tell.
Chickens was found outside, bound to a fence in the rain – cold and shivering with obvious injuries to both eyes. Some locals mentioned he had been in the same place for days without food or water. We knew right then and there he needed our help.
We welcomed Chickens with open arms. Making sure to provide him with a caring environment in order to gain his trust which we needed most.
Being hesitant to eat, drink, or use the bathroom. It took a lot of love and affection to get Chickens to understand that we were here to stay. We immediatly noticed Chickens eye sight was extremely poor, sometimes bumping into things and avoiding odd shapes in front of him.
Our first vet visit was met with alarming news. Chickens injuries to his eyes were so severe that one eye (possibly 2) would need to be surgically removed to prevent further damage. Determined to save Chickens eye sight we took him to an additional vet to get a second opinion. Our third visit concluded that Chickens had an eye and ear infection, fleas, anemia and possible worms.
Chickens was referred to an eye specialist. There we were met with positive news. His eye did not need to be removed! With a corrective surgery, his eyes could heal and he can regain most of his eye sight!
However, Chickens requires corrective eye lid surgery to both eyes as soon as possible to prevent further damage along with consecutive follow ups. Although we are doing everything we can to help Chickens, the cost of the surgery and follow ups is beyond our budget.
We are asking your help to give Chickens the life he deserves. A life filled with love, play, and endless dog treats!
In the short time we’ve spent together, Chickens has shown nothing but gratitude.
We would love to provide Chickens with the help he needs and a home for life.
From a dollar to a share, we thank you for anything you can provide.
