Help Chicken Fried Horror and Family Avoid Homelessness

Hey y’all, Wally here, from Chicken Fried Horror.

Actually, it’s Shawn. Wallace Carter was my dad. He was the countriest guy I knew, and it seemed like a pretty good way to honor him to create a character for my horror channel in his image. But, time to rip the band-aid off.

I'm pretty dang terrible for asking people for help. My wife would say I’m chronically allergic to it. But I’m thin on options at this point, and my family needs me so it’s time to swallow my pride. By the end of this month, we're losing our home. Without a miracle, we'll be sleeping in our car.

I've been driving myself crazy looking for solutions, and tearing Columbus apart looking for work, but even if my wife and I both found work *today*, we wouldn’t be able to land a place before that deadline.

A friend out in Dry Branch has offered us a lifeline: he’s got land, but no room in his home, but he says we can park an RV on this land. It's not fancy, but it don’t need to be. It’s a roof over our head, stability, and a chance to rebuild. It's in the backyard of Macon, which is where we, and most of our support systems, are from. The hang up, because there’s always a hangup, is that we need probably between $10,000-$20,000 to buy a used RV that's actually livable.

It we can hit that goal, we can get a decent roof over our heads. We can get partway there, we might be able to get a... less decent roof over our heads, which is still better than nothing. If we somehow exceed that goal (And I mean somehow in the 'Somehow, Palpatine has returned' area of incredulity.), We might be able to pick up a used car that will get me back on the road earning money, too. *Any* of those goals would be a monumental change for us, and take the kind of weight off of our shoulders that we can only dream about right now.

I know that's a steep, steep ask. Trust me, I know. Everybody’s hurting right now, and I don’t feel right asking for a handout at all. But when I talked about this situation in my last video, 2,500 of you showed up and watched. That’s, like… 2,490 more than I ever got talking about spooky ghosts and guys in bear suits stalking hikers.

If everybody who watched that video could spare $10, our entire world would look different tomorrow. I know that’s not realistic, but even some of that would help. $5 helps. Even $1 helps. Anything helps.
My family and I have had a lot of hardship, between medical nonsense and more than our share of disasters, but we've always kept going. And I always thought that we were in it alone. Yesterday, I saw all of y’all come out of the woodwork to encourage us to keep going. I’m not blowing smoke when I tell y’all that you've been a bright spot in the middle of a really dark time. It never once occurred to me to come here and ask y’all for help like this. But, like, it also never occurred to me that I’d be watching my wife and kiddo worry about where we're going to sleep.

If you can help, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you can't, I completely get it. Honestly, even showing it to other folks you know who might be able to help would be a godsend.

We're fighting to stay afloat, and I promise if we get through this, I'll never forget y’all, whether you were able to help or not. Just knowing there was somebody out there willing to listen is encouraging.

Thank you for even reading this.
