Journey to Recovery: Help Cheyvonne With Her Medical Costs

On February 22, 2025, my life took an unexpected turn when I suffered an ischemic stroke. The impact on my life has been significant, leaving me with limited to no movement in my left arm and leg. Simple everyday tasks that I once took for granted are now a struggle. My gait and balance are also significantly impaired, affecting my mobility, my ability to work, and of course, my independence.

While I am incredibly grateful for the initial care I received in Trinidad and Tobago, the specialized rehabilitation healthcare I desperately need is not readily available in local health facilities. My doctor has strongly recommended that I travel to the United States to access long-term inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation services that are crucial for my recovery.

Time is of the essence. The doctor has emphasized that the best window for regaining mobility and achieving greater independence in my daily life is within the first six months after my stroke. Access to specialized rehabilitation in the United States will significantly increase my chances of regaining movement with assistive devices and ultimately improving my quality of life.

This journey to recovery requires significant financial resources. The costs associated with treatment, long-term inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation in the United States, and ongoing support are substantial.
