Our good boy Chewy had to have emergency surgery in early February to remove a large tumor on his spleen that seems to have grown overnight. One day he was a bouncy happy pup, the next, his stomach had swelled up, he was shivering and shaking, and we had to take him to emergency care where he was rushed for a splenectomy. Thankfully, surgery went well and his tummy wound has been healing normally, but we received the awful news that his cancer is an aggressive type of sarcoma and that he also suffers from hepatitis, which means we have to undergo further testing on his liver and multiple rounds of chemo and medication to keep his pain at bay while we try to get him better.

Chewy is only 9 years old and we are not ready to give up on him. We love him like a son and will do anything in our power to keep him comfortable and cozy in this next stage of his life, whatever the outcome, but the expenses are already beyond overwhelming and we could use some help from our peers who also love him. With the surgery and testing alone, after insurance we have already spent over $12,500 on his care and 6 rounds of chemo is estimated to cost over $10,000.
