Chewy is the long-haired, floppy-eared classroom bunny in my colleague’s classroom at Ashley Ridge High School. He’s a wonderful little creature who has brought so much happiness and joy to the entire Delta Up hallway. Students come to the classroom during lunch and free time just to hold and play with Chewy, and he even visits other classrooms so more students can enjoy his company. He brings comfort and smiles to a place where kids don’t always want to be, making school a little brighter for everyone.
Recently, Chewy developed an abscess on his back leg. After months of treatment and hundreds of dollars spent, his wound isn’t responding as well as we hoped. Now, we’re facing a tough decision: there are a couple of treatment options, including one that almost certainly will work, but the best option for Chewy’s recovery is very expensive. As public school teachers, we simply don’t have the funds to continue paying for his care, and we’ve never done anything like this before. Our coworkers suggested reaching out for help, so here we are.
Chewy means so much to our students and staff. With your support, we can give him the treatment he needs and keep him bringing joy to our school. Any donation, big or small, will make a difference for Chewy and the kids who love him.
