Help Chewy Recover from Attack

Hey everyone, my name is Ashley. I’m starting this gofundme for my Best friend Kaycee and her sweet baby of 14 years Chewy aka Chew Chew. On 5/27/24, Memorial Day, while Kaycee was doing some yard work in her back yard, Chewy was by her side, as always, as she brought trash from the back yard to the front yard. On her third trip she noticed Chewy wasn’t by her side. As she made her way back to the front yard she found her baby lying in the road. He had been attacked by a German shepherd that was being walked by a neighbor from down the road. After his dog attacked Chewy he didn’t bother to stop, just left him there. When Kaycee attempted to make contact with the dogs owner he refused to come to the door. She contacted police but was told there’s nothing they can do. Animal control also said without proof there’s nothing they can really do either. There is audio of the guy saying his dog got loose but the attack wasn’t picked up visually on the ring cameras.

Chewy only weighs 3-4lbs so you can imagine how severe his injuries are, he has multiple puncture wounds on his neck, abdomen and near his tail. He has a broken scapula (which the ER vet said they’ve never seen in a dog) and a 2-3” gash on his side. He may require surgery on his scapula, a drain port in his neck and also staples for the gash. Kaycee has already paid $3,000 down but that money has been utilized and the vet said Chewy would need to stay another night possibly two. The cost for that is going to be a minimum of another $2,000. Kaycee and her daughter are absolutely heartbroken at the thought of losing their precious Chewy, as anyone can imagine, so I’m asking for help for her (because she will never ask herself) so she can focus on Chewy and not the financial side.
