Chewy is our family’s mini terrier mix, and he’s been with us since he was a baby. My mom takes him everywhere she goes, even to church, and he’s always by her side. Chewy loves the beach and playing with his son Oakley, one of his own pups. He means the world to our family, and we’re determined to do everything we can to help him, even if we have to do it alone.

Early this morning, while my mom was letting Chewy out in her gated backyard, she witnessed a coyote attack him. It was a terrifying experience. Chewy suffered broken ribs, multiple puncture wounds that went straight through him, and now has fluid in his heart and lungs. He’s currently in emergency care, and the doctors are working hard to stabilize him. They’re waiting until he’s strong enough to do a CT scan to assess the damage to his ribs, one of which may need to be removed because it’s sticking out in the wrong direction.

The costs just to get Chewy stabilized and ready for surgery are overwhelming. The funds raised here will go directly toward his emergency care and surgery, giving him the best chance to recover and come home to us. Even a small amount will go a long way.
