Chewie is my 5-year-old rescued Coonhound and my emotional support companion. He wandered into my yard one day as a puppy, only about three months old, and from that moment, he changed my life in ways I never expected. Chewie goes everywhere with us—he comes to work, goes to shows for our band, and even went on tour with us. He truly is a person in our eyes, and he’s not just a dog—he’s family. He’s incredibly smart—sometimes too smart for his own good—and he’s truly the best dog I could ask for. Chewie has been by my side through thick and thin, and I can’t imagine life without him.
Recently, Chewie started getting sick in ways that worried me deeply. He stopped eating, began trembling and drooling, and his neck became so swollen that he could barely swallow. After more than a month of vet visits and tests, we finally got the heartbreaking news: Chewie has Lymphoma. He’s now facing a tough road ahead, starting chemotherapy with the CHOP protocol. Depending on further test results, his doctor may switch him to the LOP protocol. The uncertainty and urgency of his treatment have been overwhelming, but I’m determined to give him the fighting chance he deserves.
The costs for his vet visits, treatments, lab work, and medications are adding up quickly. I am not good at asking for help, but Chewie means the world to me and I don’t know how to do this alone. Anything you can do helps. I can’t lose him. Thank you so much for reading our story and for any support you can give.
