In 2020, my mama passed away, and I helped my daddy care for her at home as long as we could. Just ten months later, my husband died, leaving me numb with grief. By then, my daddy was facing serious health and mental challenges, so we moved in together so I could care for him. I left my beloved country home, put everything I owned into two large storage units, and moved into his apartment. I had been working at the hospital—a job I truly loved—but my daddy’s health declined so quickly that I left my job to care for him around the clock. For three years, I had no income, devoting all my time to his care. We lived on his social security and pension, barely making ends meet.

This past July, my daddy passed away, and I found myself completely alone. All income stopped immediately. I found a part-time job right away, but it doesn’t cover my monthly needs. I gratefully used all the community resources I could access. I also have health issues, and my doctor believes that I qualify for social security disability benefits, but that process could take up to six months. In the meantime, I am three months behind on rent… so far, and the storage units that hold everything precious to me and my late husband are being put up for auction. I thought leaving my job to care for my father was the right thing to do, and I miss him terribly. Now, I am left wondering what will happen to me tomorrow… next week… next month…

The most urgent need is for rent so I can avoid eviction and homelessness. If possible, I would also love to save my storage units and the memories they hold. I am deeply grateful to anyone who reads my story, whether you are able to give or not. I have always believed that giving blesses the giver, and I know what it’s like to want to help but be unable to. Your prayers and kindness mean the world to me. For those who can help, may God bless you and surround you with love always.
