My name is Cherrell, and I am a nursing student at Chamberlain University, working toward my dream of graduating at the end of 2027. My journey has not been easy. Like many adult learners, I balance a full-time career during the day, attend classes at night, and complete clinical rotations on weekends. There have been moments of exhaustion, setbacks, and obstacles that made me question how I would keep going—but through faith, perseverance, and determination, I have continued to move forward.
My passion for nursing was born from personal loss. After losing my grandparents, I became deeply aware of the devastating impact that preventable conditions such as diabetes and hypertension have on families, especially within the African American community. Their passing inspired me to pursue a career dedicated to education, prevention, and compassionate care. I want to be the nurse who not only treats illness but empowers people with the knowledge and resources they need to live healthier lives.
Today, I am closer to the finish line than ever before. After years of sacrifice, long workdays, late-night classes, weekend clinicals, and countless hours of studying, I am entering the final chapter of my nursing journey. While I have experienced setbacks along the way, each challenge has strengthened my resilience and reinforced my commitment to becoming a nurse. I refuse to let temporary obstacles stand in the way of a lifelong calling.
To continue my education and stay on track for graduation, I am facing a financial hurdle with tuition. I have already invested everything I could, including using my personal savings and 401(k), to continue pursuing this dream. Any support received will go directly toward my educational expenses and help me remain focused on completing the program.
