Help Chenxira with surgery costs for Kitty Mugen
Donation protected
Hello there and thank you kindly for checking out my fundraiser!
You may know me by the artist and creator Chenxira, or you may know me by Aminah ( Mina ), the gal who draws ( hee hee ), but what you probably don’t know is that my kitty of 1yr has suddenly fallen ill and is in need of serious surgery and care.
What happened?
On August 15th, my little kitty Mugen was let out to enjoy the backyard, as he usually does. After about 2 hours or so I called for him to return to the house and he didn’t respond. (Usually, he yells out a loud meow when I call him, he’s usually ready to eat by then anyway, but I got no response.) I went into the backyard to find him walking very slowly like he was in pain. I then picked him up and rushed him into the house.
I checked him and decided to monitor him, and all he did was lay down. He barely slept, ate or cleaned himself. That to me was a bad sign that something was going on with him. I didn’t get much sleep that night due to staying up, watching him. During the night he got a bit of a fever. Since he wasn’t getting up to walk at all, I had to bring him water, feeding it to him with a syringe otherwise he refused to drink.
With all this happening, my mom and I decided to contact the vet at the animal hospital. We spoke to the EM Vet about his symptoms and were told we may need to bring him in for thorough evaluation. Regrettably we didn’t have the funds to bring him in. So they walked us through the process of doing a physical evaluation over the phone. Unfortunately that was not enough, so we had to bring him in.
Waiting for them to return with the results of his examination was like sitting on pins and needles. After about 45 minutes they returned to relay the news. The EM Vet informed us that they were able to stabilize Mugen’s condition and that he was ok, but that was not the worst of it. They let us know that Mugen had eaten something that was laced with broken and finely cut metal bits, this was shocking to us! Who the hell would do that to my cat! After thinking about it we remembered about a man who lived in a neighboring town who hated cats. So he bought cat food, laced it with poison and spread it around his town and ours to kill the cats! We had been wondering for months what had happened to the cats in the neighborhood. A few of our neighbor’s cats were killed this way.
So we started looking in our backyard for any evidence of food that may have been put there. So when we returned home I went to the backyard to look and eventually was able to find a small old can of cat food that had been eaten out of. When I examined it I found small metal fragments in the food. The small metal shards resembled cut up staples. Someone had broken one the bottom wooden planks of our fence to put the food in the yard.
This was obviously done by someone and they had every intention to cause harm to my cat.
After discovering this I returned to my mom with the news and she was mortified. As we spoke about this for almost 2hours ( While also calling family and letting them know the situation) The EM vet returned with the x-ray and diagnoses of Mugen to pinpoint his health crisis.
Mugen’s Condition
Long story short, Mugen has to receive Intestinal foreign object removal surgery, along with a gastronomy. They have to remove the metal shards from his stomach, and a small section of his intestines must be removed as well do to blockage. He also was experiencing some slight hemorrhaging due to the small metal shards tearing his stomach and intestines.
Goal
The estimate cost for the procedures is around 5K. My family and I just cannot afford it and I don’t want to euthanize my kitty, which is a suggestion that they made. The above estimate given is just for the procedures but it does not include the recovery costs. ( Such as after surgery care and medication ) Any help is highly appreciated.
Ending
Last year I lost my dearest kitty NayiNori of 23yrs. After about 4 months of grieving, a coworker asked if I could take in an abandoned kitten which was Mugen. He helped me a lot with dealing with the lost of my first kitty and just thinking about losing him so suddenly breaks me inside.
I will of course continue making cute, happy and naughty art & goodies for everyone and myself! It’s just . . . hard to focus right now with all the worry and stress.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and even donate. Your words of encouragement are always valued and welcomed, more then you all will ever know ♡
♡ This pic ( above ) is when he went into the backyard. So happy and cute! ♡
