Help Chelsy and Her Family Through Recovery

Donation protected
Two weeks ago, our family’s world was turned upside down when Chelsy Proehl-Kofoid was rushed to the hospital after a sudden medical emergency. While working out at the Hays Rec Center, Chelsy collapsed. What was first believed to be a seizure and possible head trauma quickly became much more serious.

After being taken to Hays Medical Center, a CT scan revealed bleeding in her brain. She was immediately transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for further evaluation and specialized care. An MRI showed no evidence of head trauma, and an initial angiography did not reveal a clot or aneurysm. Following medical protocol, doctors waited a week and performed a second angiography. This time, they discovered what is known as a blood blister aneurysm.

The following day, Chelsy underwent a procedure to place a stent in her brain. Thankfully, the procedure was successful, and she continues to improve each day. We are hopeful she will be able to return home soon.

Chelsy is a devoted wife and mother of two children, and her strength throughout this experience has been nothing short of inspiring. As she continues her recovery, this page has been created to show support, love, and encouragement for Chelsy and her family.

Thank you for keeping Chelsy and her family in your thoughts and prayers and for any support you choose to share.
