She kept her family together, but now her car has left them stranded. Let’s get Chelsea back on the road.
Chelsea’s old but trusty car died last week and she desperately needs some reliable transportation to take her and her brothers to work and school. We, her friends and co-workers, are trying to buy her a reliable used vehicle so she can continue supporting her brothers and keep the family afloat. This amazing, hardworking young woman deserves some support given the sacrifices she has made already.
Chelsea has been holding the family together since her mom tragically died of Covid in 2021 when she was just 22 and her brothers Rigo and Emilio were still in high school. With no other parent to rely on, she stepped into the role of caretaker to make sure they had a home, food, school supplies, and every chance to succeed. Rigo is now a student at Houston City College and Emilio was recently promoted at his job. She’s proud of them, as is anyone who knows the family.
But now Chelsea is struggling yet again to keep them all on track and striving toward their dreams and goals. She’s working hard at three jobs and attending college at the same time, and without a dependable car, she can’t hope to keep up with everyone’s routines or their job and school commitments. She jokingly says that “God, coffee, and hope for a better day ahead” keep her going, but she could use some help right now from the rest of us.
Chelsea is modestly asking for only $3000 for a down payment on a good used vehicle, but we’re hoping we can surpass that goal and get a trustworthy vehicle outright so she can continue taking care of her family and herself. All funds will go toward a vehicle, insurance and any transportation-related expenses. In this season of giving, many of us have more than we need, so consider honoring a friend or family member with a gift in their name. Even $15 or $25 will make a meaningful impact, and help Chelsea get back on the road and continue moving forward.
