June 2025 has been a long, scary, and draining month for Chelsea, Lewis, and the dogs – and it started with Turbo’s persistent cough.

Concerned by several days of wheezing, Chelsea and Lewis took Turbo to the vet, where they received devastating news. Turbo had a tumor in his lung, and he needed emergency surgery to remove a portion of it.

Thankfully, the surgery went well, and Turbo was able to come home after three nights in the hospital. But while Turbo was still recovering at home, an even scarier emergency struck.

The other dogs, Mada and Victor, ingested all of Turbo’s pain medication after one of the family cats knocked it off a countertop. They were both rushed to the emergency vet.

Victor was monitored overnight and is thankfully okay. But Mada wasn’t so lucky – she has been hospitalized for several days and suffered lasting liver damage. It’s likely she’ll need lifelong medication and continued vet care.

Maybe it’s cliche to call pets family – but if you know Chelsea and Lewis, you know their bond with their pets is as deep and true as any parents’ love. They’ll do whatever they need to give their dogs – and many other animals – a good life, so we need to rally around them to help ease the load.

Our starting goal is raising half of the $10,500 needed to get Mada, Turbo, and Victor home safe – but with your help we'll do even more.
