Cheech is a stray cat who was found unresponsive behind a building at our workplace. At first, we feared the worst, but when we looked closer, we realized he was still breathing. Several of us quickly gathered a cardboard box and some blankets, gently placed him inside, and I carried him to my co-worker's car. She called ahead to the vet to make sure they could see him right away, and together we rushed him there, hoping for the best.

At the vet, we learned that Cheech was severely dehydrated and, heartbreakingly, had marijuana in his system. He needed to stay at the clinic for five days, where the staff worked tirelessly to nurse him back to health. During his stay, he was also neutered and received all his required vaccinations. Once he was stable, my co-worker brought him home to recover in a safe, warm environment. Cheech is still adjusting to life indoors—he’s a bit ornery and confused, but he’s alert, active, and showing more of his personality every day.
