Yáʼátʼééh (hello) family, friends, and acquaintances. This is Jolene & Reginald Chee. Our family tragically lost our beloved home to a house fire in Pinon Arizona on the Diné reservation on August 4, 2025. Our parents have lost everything except for the clothes they were wearing and are in temporary shelter due to being displaced.
Our home was home to many family and friends. Our parents cared for whomever walked through their doors and treated them as their own providing comfort and care. Our late grandparents were cared for in this home in their latter years. Our precious home held so many precious memories of celebrations, irreplaceable cultural valuables passed on through lineage, photos of our elders and family, and heir looms like Diné jewelry and woven Navajo rugs that our grandma wove were all lost.
Although it is a tragic loss we are grateful to have one another — and everyone, including our animals, are safe. The amount of support, love and contributions made so far have comforted and held us. We still love and laugh as we navigate through this tragedy processing the loss.
At this time we are asking for your help to begin the rebuilding phase. There is much work to be done: cleanup of debris, foundation, framing, roofing, plumbing and electrical, and so on.
Please consider contributing as we rebuild from scratch.
