The morning of September 17, Cheddar was attacked and beaten. Our vet suspects that he was kicked or hit with some type of rod or bat. He has a fractured mandible and some lung bruising, which could be serious. The full treatment may cost $900, a price my family and I can't afford. I spent $600 of my own savings for his exam and have nothing left. I am heartbroken right now and have no support for him. He's a playful boy, and seeing him like this is heartbreaking. I'm fresh out of the hospital this week and now my baby is in this horrific state and I can't bear the thought of losing him now more than ever. I only have this week to get him the surgery he needs before scar tissue forms, which will keep him from healing correctly.
A little story about Cheddar: he's a romantic. He's flirty with neighborhood cats and loves attention from my other cat, Mystique. She spent this morning trying to groom him and clean his wounds as he wailed like a newborn.
I don't know what I'd do without him. Since he was a kitten, he's been a lover. He was so upset when I would leave for school. He would follow me until the crosswalk and meow to me every morning before I left. On the last few days of my sophomore year, he was so desperate to stay with me that he followed me to school. I didn't notice until I was crossing the street. So, I asked my favorite teacher if he could stay, and when he said yes, I was so happy, and Cheddar was allowed to be with me at school that day.
He was so excited to be the center of attention that day. He was given so much love by all my classmates. It's crazy to me how so much can change in an hour. Cheddar was fine this morning, but then it happened.
He's a good and loving boy. I can't even imagine living without him by my side. Please share this fundraiser with anyone you can and donate if you have the funds. I would be deeply grateful.
Sincerely,
Rose Telles
