Greetings to My Beloved Community,

My name is Chautauqua Denean, and I am a Student Midwife on a sacred journey to serve and uplift my community through birth work. Answering the call of my ancestors, I am deeply committed to becoming a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and carrying forward the legacy of traditional, culturally rooted care.

This summer, I will be traveling to Kentucky for essential training and clinical experience that I cannot access in my home state due to a shortage of midwifery teachers. This step is vital to completing my certification and learning the traditional hands-on skills required to safely and holistically support birthing people.

Midwifery is not just a career for me—it is a calling and a legacy, passed down through generations. With each birth I attend, I honor the wisdom of those who came before me and work to build a future of empowered, culturally competent care.
