Please help little Chase

Hi everyone,

It’s been a hard 4 weeks for my sisters 7mth old mini dachshund Chase. Our vets and specialist believe Chase has Von Willebrands disease. Von Willebrands disease is a bleeding disorder cause by low levels of clotting protein in the blood. My sister has been beside herself and can’t imagine loosing him. He’s a little fighter. Unfortunately the breeder only offered my sister another puppy, if Chase doesn’t live. She hasn’t offered to cover some of the vet bills to save him. Vet costs are over $3500,closer to $4000. Unfortunately due to lockdown my sister wasn’t getting as many shift and now isn’t getting any. Further tests are needed to confirm if it is Von Willebrands and which type. I know it’s a hard time for so many but if you can donate anything forwards this little guy it is greatly appreciated.

When Chase was teething we noticed he had a lot of blood in his mouth, on toys and our beds. We took him to the vets to get him checked out. They did blood tests and even though the clotting time was a little slow they weren’t to concerned as it did clot. The vet was happy to go ahead with desexing and dew claw removal.

Chase also had extra dew claws on his back paws. One that wasn’t attached to bone and one that was but also had two nails growing from it. The breeder didn’t tell my sister about them until she arrived to pick him up. She also didn’t reduce the sale price. He also had an untrained testicle .

He was desexed and had the dew claws on his back paws removed on the 13th of July. It’s been a battle ever since. After surgery he started bleeding from 3 of the 4 incisions (as he also had a testicle inside). He was between the emergency vet, our local vet and home over those for 3 days. He had his belly and legs wrapped and developed two Haemotomas in his groin area. He came home from the vet without his legs being wrapped and started bleeding from his right leg when he went to the toilet. He’s been to emergency twice just for the leg bleeding. The second time he also had plasma. He had to cross another hurdle last week getting the stitches out but unfortunately he started bleeding from the right leg again. He’s had to have it wrapped and unfortunately the non stick pad stuck to the blood. It started bleeding again. He went back to the vet and they removed the stuck pad, applied honey and rewrapped it. On Friday he had plasma again and they took bloods for further testing.
