Help Chase Fight for His Life — He Deserves a Chance to Live

Today, I am reaching out to you with a heart that feels both heavy and hopeful. A family very close to mine is going through an unimaginable storm, and I am asking for your compassion, your prayers, and your help.

Seventeen-year-old Chase Rudelle Gata is lying in a hospital bed, fighting for every breath, every moment of life. He has been diagnosed with Acute Spinal Cord Injury – Potts Disease, Psoas Abscess, and Grade 2 Sacral Decubitus Ulcer.

For almost three months now, Chase has been confined at Bicol Medical Center in the Philippines, enduring endless pain, medical tests, MRIs, and procedures that no young boy should ever have to experience.

His mother—who is like a daughter to me—is a single mom doing everything she can to stay strong, but the weight of this battle is crushing. After losing their beloved father/grandfather, who was like a brother to me, the family was already struggling to find their footing again. Now, their hearts are breaking all over.

Doctors have said that Chase needs an urgent and life-saving spinal surgery called Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion Complete Instrumentation. This surgery involves inserting stainless steel implants into his spine—an operation that could mean the difference between life and death, between hope and despair.

Estimated cost for this surgery: ₱240,000 (Philippine Pesos)

Every day that passes without this surgery puts Chase’s life at greater risk. His mother prays by his bedside, holding his hand, whispering words of comfort as her son struggles to stay strong. It’s a sight that would break anyone’s heart.
