Dear Old Boys of SMA, our fellow brother Charles “Chip” Dasti n his wife Sue have been raising and caring for his ten year old grandson “ Chase” and 13 year old granddaughter Annabella, for the past 8 years due to a family situation. This past Thanksgiving Chase was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcosis Cancer and is fighting with all his might. While Rhabdomyosarcosis Cancer only affects children and young adults it is considered quite rare. Treatment for Chase over the past 8 months has involved a combination of transfusions, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and weekly stays in the hospital once every three weeks. This is all after Chase had to spend 4 months in the Hospital for Children of Philadelphia with the onset of his diagnosis. The cancer combined with Chase’s routine medical care of ongoing cancer treatments is not only painful but has been quite debilitating for this young man not to mention the stress it has put on his older sister Annabella and the entire Dasti family. As I am sure you can imagine the financial burden on any family going through something like this is quite difficult. This is where you can help.
