Hi, this is Amber, and Chas Dawson is my awesome step-dad.
If you may have not already heard, CHAS IS IN THE FIGHT OF HIS LIFE!
He was diagnosed with multifocal pneumonia. He started with a simple cold, that transgressed into pneumonia, which then went to multifocal pneumonia. Sheila, his wife forced him to go to the ER on Wednesday, November 8, 2023; as Chas was having trouble breathing. Upon arrival to the hospital in Sebring, Florida, they intubated Chas and put him in a medical paralysis state. While the doctors at the Sebring hospital gave all they had to offer; the medical staff decided it was best to transport Chas to a hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida for treatment. Chas is currently still intubated and under paralytic medicines, so the doctors can administer the best course of action to get him better.
Chas was sent to the WPB hospital to get ECMO TREATMENT. ECMO treatment is simply put dialysis for lungs and blood. However, Chas was not stable enough to start ECMO treatment, due to his kidneys and liver deteriorating. Chas’ current medical staff, have deemed it necessary for him to be on dialysis for his kidneys in order for him to move on to the next step, which is ECMO treatment.
Chas has a long road ahead and we are here with him in the west Palm Beach area. Meaning that mom, other family members and I are staying at hotels to be here for him. His sisters, Elizabeth from Sebring and Stacy from Virginia; have dropped everything for Chas to be here with him.
Chas has always been one to lend a hand or the shirt off his back to help anyone. Whether it was a strange on the side of the road, his SCCA race family, his friends and family; Chas tries everything in his power to give a helping hand.
I am asking for prayers, good wishes and if you can a donation to assist with medical and financial needs. This is all so overwhelming for the family and has happened so rapidly, we are all beside ourselves. Please keep Chas and the family in your thoughts, as we REALLY NEED IT! Prayers, good thoughts or any type of donation (monetary, gift certificates, a place to stay in the west Palm Beach area, anything is greatly appreciated).
Thank you!
