Update: She has now passed away September 30th, 2025. Her celebration of life will be held January 31, 2026.
My name is Jasmyn, and I’m raising funds for my mother, Charlyn, who is facing and has been facing an aggressive, metastasized breast cancer. It has now spread to her brain and throughout the rest of her body. She is 45 years old; her birthday is May 4th, and she has been fighting cancer, I believe, since about 2017 or 2018. It’s been a bit of a blur for me. I was in either 8th grade or freshman year of high school when she was diagnosed, and I am now 21, just trying to do something… anything for her, really.
So, a little about who she is outside of her illness. She is a devoted Christian, a painter, loves to crochet, take pictures, she’s a crazy plant lady, and a loving mother who has always gone above and beyond for me and the entire family—even in the midst of her struggles. Her cancer is not curable, and while we continue to pray for healing, I want to make the most of the time we have together by creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Charlyn has always dreamed of seeing the Aurora Borealis, visiting the Museum of Creation, reconnecting with family in South Dakota, and taking local trips around California. Unfortunately, her illness brings daily challenges—consistent doctor visits, the constant fear of the unknown, severe pain, fatigue, headaches, and mobility issues. She relies on social security, which barely covers her basic needs, and when feeling well enough, she volunteers at a local mission to help others, even with the fatigue and pain she endures. She constantly stresses over finances, and she and my stepdad have been struggling. I live three hours away, and with my limited income and car troubles, it’s hard to visit as often as I’d like. Despite these obstacles, we recently managed a road trip to Washington to visit her best friend (our flight had to get canceled because of a doctor's appointment change), and I want to give her more experiences like that—moments of joy and adventure, even if they’re small.
The funds raised will help cover travel expenses, medical bills, daily necessities, and anything else she might need to stay comfortable and financially worry-free. Every bit of support will help us make the most of our time together, allowing my mom to experience the world she’s always wanted to see and to find comfort in the present. She has always had such a giving heart, and I just would like to give her something in return for everything she’s done for me and my family.
Thank you for reading our story and for any help you can offer. If you’re unable to donate, please share this with your friends and family. Every bit of help is appreciated. Your kindness means more than words can express!
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (NKJV)
