Help Charly get treatment ♥️

Donation protected
Hi my name is Tori and this is my sweet kitty, Charly. Last night we ended up in the ER after I noticed Charly was struggling to breathe. One exam and ultrasound later and the doctor informed us that he has fluid on his heart/lungs. First order of business is to drain the fluid and keep him on oxygen to help him breathe while his labs are drawn to check for any red flags. Second is to take X-rays and an ultrasound to figure out where the fluid is coming from/ where it’s going. Third is to test the fluid to see if it’s cancerous. Then Charly will need to be monitored and put on fluids to help stabilize him. Hopefully then, we will have better answers as to what is causing this and if he has more time left with us.

Just from this ER visit alone, we were told the low end of his bill would be $2,900 and the high end around $4,000. We’ve already exceeded $4,000 with extra tests, an ultrasound, and a potential biopsy. I cannot insure Charly because he has too many preexisting conditions and paying out of pocket for a cat with an FIV diagnosis is stressful because you never know what you’re going to end up paying. I want to make sure he gets the care he needs because I know our time together isn’t up just yet.

BACK STORY
I adopted Charly from a petsmart in 2014. At the time, he was about 2 years old and had been in a shelter/ petsmart his whole life. It wasn’t until after his adoption that we got his FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) diagnosis. He’s lived a fairly healthy and happy life up until this point and I’m grateful for the time we’ve had together. He gets his yearly check ups and vaccines and every visit the vet reassures me that he’s a healthy boy.

Charly started to develop a more persistent cough a year or two ago and even then we were told it was nothing to worry about since his lungs sounded clear. Fast forward to about 6 months after his annual and we are at the ER being told his fluid accumulation is significant and had likely been growing steadily. I was upset, shocked, and disheartened. I thought I had done everything possible to keep him healthy but it seems as though I let him down.

I’m not ready to lose him and I know he’s still got some fight left. If you can help me with his bills, it would mean I get to keep giving him the care he deserves.

Thanks for sharing your kindness with me and Charly.
