Help Charlotte stay in the UK! Visa and Legal Fees

Donation protected

Hello,

I’m Charlotte! I’m an Audio Engineer, Music Producer, and Sound Artist from Big Lake, BC. For the past three years, I’ve been living and truly thriving in London, UK.

I’m raising funds to cover legal and visa application fees so I can remain in the UK for the next five years. I’m applying for a Global Talent Visa, which requires both an endorsement from the Arts Council and a costly visa application. My first application was rejected on a technicality, and I cannot afford another endorsement application on top of the £5,000 required for the actual visa, plus my lawyer’s fees. With the feedback I have received, I feel confident and optimistic about this second application.

My Story

I grew up in a tiny rural town in BC and felt incredibly isolated. At a very young age, I decided I would do everything possible to escape those circumstances and pursue a career in music. My life’s goal has always been to work as an audio engineer.
I graduated from high school early and worked seven days a week from ages 15 to 17, saving enough to move to Vancouver and attend audio school. I graduated from audio school as valedictorian before my 19th birthday, then spent several years working in Vancouver studios, teaching Pro Tools, and also completing a recording practicum at the prestigious Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in 2018.
By 25, I felt I had reached the limits of what Vancouver’s small music industry could offer. For a year, I saved relentlessly to move to London. I gave everything I had, saying goodbye to close friends, leaving a respected studio job, and ending a loving relationship in order to take the next step in my career.
London has exceeded every expectation. It remains the best decision I have ever made. I have engineered at major studios and worked on the kind of music I always dreamed of. I have found a true sense of community here that I never felt in Vancouver. I am currently working on projects that feel deeply important, much of it not yet released, and all I want is to continue this work. The UK is the most exciting place in the world for music right now, and at this stage in my career, Canada simply cannot compare.

I have always done my best to support artists by offering sliding-scale rates and often mixing for free when needed, as recently as last week. I will continue doing everything I can to make music creation accessible for others. If anyone would like to donate here and trade it for a mix in the future, I am more than happy to do that.

If I exceed my goal, any extra funds will be donated to my friends at The Hoodstock Fund, who provide free studio access to young musicians facing financial barriers. Big love to Fuzzbrain Studios and The Hoodstock Fund.

Thank you for reading and supporting. I love you all xx
