Charlotte and her boyfriend Spencer have just experienced a tragedy that no one should ever have to face. Early this morning, a man in their apartment complex set fire to their building at 5 am, destroying their shared apartment and taking the lives of their two beloved cats.

Charlotte, my childhood friend, only recently moved to Missouri from Oregon, and with no family nearby, she and Spencer are facing this loss without a local support system.

Everything they owned—furniture, food, blankets, kitchenware, and all the essentials—was lost in the fire.

The emotional toll of losing their pets and the place they called home is unimaginable. Now, they are left to rebuild from scratch, needing help to replace all of their lost items to get back on their feet.

Charlotte and Spencer are some of the hardest working people I know. They moved across the country at just 18, determined to build a life together. They both worked heavily throughout high school in order to live on their own and moved across the country for Charlotte’s continued education.

Any donation, no matter the size, will mean they have to work one less hour to recover from this tragedy.
