Help our mom, Charlotte Searcy, recover from Eaton Fire

Dear Friends, Loved Ones, and Compassionate Supporters:

Our mother, Charlotte Searcy, tragically lost everything she had in the Eaton Fire on January 7, 2025.

Charlotte has been part of the fabric of the Altadena community for more than 50 years. Like many Black Americans seeking social and economic freedom, our mom moved to Altadena in 1967 after graduating from high school in South Carolina. She loved the close-knit community of Altadena and all that it had to offer. Our mom met the love of her life in Pasadena, and the pair got married in the backyard of her sister's home on Saint James Place. Our mom eventually found her own home in Altadena, raising us on Athens Street. She lived there for more than 30 years before retiring and moving back to Saint James Place to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Fred Caple. She resided there until the horrific and unprecedented Eaton Fire.

Our mother is a beautiful soul whose warmth, encouraging smile, and amazing hugs bring love and joy to everyone she meets. She spent her career as a social worker in South LA helping individuals heal from their traumas through the CalWORKS Program. Our mom has a strong faith in Christ and has been a member of First A.M.E. Pasadena for more than 30 years, serving throughout the years in the Missionary Society, Sunday School and volunteering for various service activities. Our mom was also active with our activities growing up by participating in PTA, going to basketball and football games, and being a "dance mom." She is a doting grandmother who loves to spoil her five grandchildren every chance she gets.

Although our mother lost everything, we are grateful that she is safe and surrounded by her loving family. Your contributions will help our mom start over after this unimaginable tragedy.
